When we spied these gorgeous works by talented illustrator and textiles artist Abigail Brown, we couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of them being some sort of crazy cross between The Make Lounge and the famous local curiosity, Get Stuffed, the taxidermy shop on nearby Essex Road!
Indeed, Abigail's charming flocks have recently captured the imaginations of fashion and interiors folk, and her little birdies even graced the Paul Smith store on Sloane Avenue - a perfect fit for the brand's take on heritage fashion with a colourful twist.
We simply love the way she brings each one to life with little illustrative touches - such as black hand stitches and jaggedy frayed edges - as well and her use of new and recycled fabrics. In addition to birds and her equally lovely butterfly brooches, Abigail creates cartoonish, wonderfully whimsical fabric animals.
